Be warned!  This course is aimed at those who are serious in their intent to gain a reasonable grasp of Esperanto quickly.  It requires a considerable effort.  No language, even Esperanto, is easy to learn!  While the writer is not aiming at linguists, knowledge of ordinary grammatical terms is assumed.

The course is remarkably complete in its coverage.  It presents the whole grammar of Esperanto in carefully argued chapters.  You will find extensive translation exercises in both directions, with full sets of answers.  There are passages for reading, suggested internet sites for follow up, 1500-word dictionaries for both English-Esperanto and Esperanto-English and a full index to all the material.

Note the excellent advice on word order, avoiding passive and other clumsy verb forms, and on matters which give particular difficulty to English speakers.  An unusual but welcome feature is the amount of detail on literature in Esperanto, both translated and original.  Abundant advice on putting your Esperanto to use is included.  The lessons reflect now long-gone problems about printing Esperanto and use strange letters such as ^c and ^g instead of ĉ and ĝ.  It is worth bearing with this idiosyncrasy.
