Brazil
A one-hour programme about Eperanto was broadcast by the television station 'TV-Câmara' Dec. 1. The programme included scenes from the Universal Congress in Fortaleza and the International Youth Congress in Pato Branco as well as interviews and music.

Croatia
13year old Stephanie Strunjak, who won a prize in a Finnish fable-writing competion for her story in Esperanto, recently appeared on two television programmes. She has also been invited to appear on a new year programme for children filmed in the main square in Zagreb.

Czech Republic
Two Czech towns, Most and Mnichovo Hradiste, now have official web sites which include information in Esperanto.

France
The recently founded society ‘LinguaForce’ provides specialist and technical translations into 42 languages. Infromation about the sociaty is available in Esperanto at http://www.linguaforce.com

A French translation of ‘Esperanto – the new Latin for the Church’ will soon be available.

‘Kulturdomo de Esperanto’ celebrated its fiftieth anniversary at Chateau Grésillon, July 20th 2002. Esperanto courses from beginners to advanced level, conferences and informal meetings are held at the Chateau throughout the summer .

Germany
The radio station NB-Radiotreff 88.0 in Neubrandenburg broadcasts a one-hour programme in Esperanto on the first Thursday every month from 6pm to 7 pm. The programme is also available over the internet at http://www.nb-radiotreff.de/

This year the annual conference of the German Esperanto Association will take place in Kaufbeuren, at the foot of the Bavarian Alps, June 6 – 9. In addition to lectures and discussion groups, the programme included excursions to the Castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. 

 

Holland
A new book by Wim Jansen with the provocative English title ‘Relax!’ contains essays and stories about the language problem and discusses the possibilities of  Esperanto as a help language within the European Union. The book is available in all Dutch book shops.

Iran

Latvia
‘Ecology and folklore’ was the theme of the International Esperanto congress in Riga, 1 – 7 July 2002. The programme included lectures and exhibitions, a concert, a trip to a national park and a visit to a factory making paving stones from re-cycled plastics.

Sweden
The Swedish Esperanto Institute organised a seminar in Vermland during the last weekend in September. ‘Indigenous Dialogues’ and ‘the culture of the Inca empire’ were two of the lectures included in the programme.

The publisher ‘Eldona societo Esperanto’ had a stand at the book fair in Gothenburg 19 – 22 Sep.

New Zealand
The annual conference of the New Zealand Esperanto Association will take place April 18 – 21, 2003, in Christchurch. For more details contact David Dewar at gddewar@ihug.co.nz

Poland
After a gap of several years, the bi-monthly magazine ‘Pola Esperantisto’ will be re-published in 2003.

Zimbabwe
A new Esperanto club ‘Amika Klubo de Zimbabvo’ was recently formed in Harare. The members include beginners (aged 11 – 30 years) and French-speaking immigrants from Zaire.
