Saluton! Fáilte! Welcome!
Welcome to the Esperanto Association of Ireland
The Esperanto Association of Ireland (EAI) is the national organisation for Esperanto speakers and supporters in Ireland. Founded in 1970 as a reorganisation of the previous Irish Esperanto Association, we promote the international language Esperanto through courses, meetings, publications and cultural events.
What is Esperanto?
Esperanto is an easy-to-learn, neutral international language designed to help people communicate across borders. It has a vibrant global community, active both online and in person.
EAI publishes a quarterly newsletter, Nova Irlanda Esperantisto, which keeps members informed and connected. We also contribute to language-policy discussions and maintain active links with Esperanto organisations worldwide. EAI represents Ireland within the World Esperanto Association (Universala Esperanto-Asocio).
We organise a variety of activities throughout the year, including local meet-ups, online discussion groups, beginner courses, and special cultural events. Visitors and newcomers are always welcome.
Want to learn Esperanto?
There are many different ways to get started.
- Esperanto12.net: a beginner course in 12 lessons, with no login needed, available in both Irish and English.
- Duolingo: a popular website and app with over 400,000 learners on its Esperanto course.
- Lernu!: a full learning platform offering courses, multimedia, and forums.
Membership
Becoming a member of EAI helps support the Esperanto movement in Ireland and includes benefits such as the quarterly newsletter, reduced event fees, and a connection to the wider international community..
